Lawn Refresh: From Bare Soil to Fresh Sod
Not every project is high-tech. This one was about getting the basics right: a brand new lawn in the backyard.
Stripping and Regrading
We removed the old lawn and regraded the yard so water drains away from the house. Getting the grade right is the step that makes the new lawn last.

Laying the Sod
Then the fresh sod went down. With regular watering for the first few weeks, it roots in quickly, and the yard goes from a dirt lot to a usable lawn in a single weekend.
Aftercare Tips
- Water early and often. Keep the sod moist for the first two to three weeks while the roots establish.
- Stay off it. Give it a few weeks before heavy foot traffic.
- Hold off on mowing. Wait until the sod is firmly rooted and doesn’t lift when you tug on it.
Once the yard is in shape, landscape lighting is a great next step so you can enjoy it after dark.
