Security Camera Installation on a Brick Home

Security Camera Installation on a Brick Home

Good security cameras should cover the spots that matter without making the house look like a fortress. For this install, we tucked the cameras up under the eaves so they blend into the home’s exterior.

Covering the Front Entrance

The front entry is the most important spot to cover. Mounting the camera high under the soffit gives it a clear view of the walkway and door, keeps it out of reach, and protects it from rain and snow.

Watching the Side Yard

Side yards are easy to forget, but they’re a common way into the backyard. This camera sits under the lower roofline and looks down the path toward the back of the house.

Tips for a Clean Install

  • Mount under the eaves. You get weather protection, a better viewing angle, and a cleaner look.
  • Plan the cable runs. Running cables through the soffit and attic keeps wires off the brick.
  • Think about angles at night. Check the view after dark so porch lights and reflections don’t wash out the image.
  • Cover the approaches. Front door, driveway, and side gates come first.
